USA: Southern Oregon University

The Southern Oregon University (SOU) is a public liberal arts college located in Ashland, Oregon. Founded in 1926, it was formerly known as Southern Oregon College (SOC) and Southern Oregon State College (SOSC). On the Card you can see Churchill Hall. It houses the offices of the President and senior University staff, as well as classroom space for the OHSU Nursing program.

UN: Vienna-Office


The United Nations (UN) is an international organization founded in 1945 after the Second World War by 51 countries committed to maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations and promoting social progress, better living standards and human rights.

The United Nations Postal Administration (UNPA) is the postal agency of the United Nations. It issues postage stamps and postal stationery for the United Nations offices in New York, Geneva and Vienna.I received this nice card from the Office in Vienna, Austria.

The Netherlands: Lochem

Today I got a nice card from the Netherlands. Lochem is a municipality and a city in the eastern Netherlands. Not far away from the german border. Lochem is characterised by a high level of labour facilities and rusticity.

USA: Washington, DC

Today I received two cards from the USA. Both came from the capital of the United States, from Washington, DC (= District of Columbia). The city is famous for it's Monuments and Memorials. Some of them are represented on my cards. 

The first card shows the Iwo Jima Memorial. The memorial features the statues of the six servicemen who raised the second U.S. flag on Mount Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima in World War II, on February 23, 1945. In the back you can see the Washington Monument and the Capitol Building.

The second card shows some more Monuments and famous landmarks in DC. Clockwise from top left: Jefferson Memorial, Smithsonian Castle, Capitol Building, The White House, Lincoln Memorial and Wahsington Monument. So, Washington, DC is a very cultural city.

South Korea: Jeju Province - Hamdeok Beach

Jeju Province is one of the nine provinces of South Korea. The province is situated on and coterminous with the nation's largest island of Jeju. About 605.00 people are living on the Island (Oct. 2014). On the card you can see Hamdeok Beach. It's located 14 km east of the capital Jeju City. Hamdeok Beach is famous for its clean and shallow water, attracting many family visitors during summer vacations.

On the card there are nice stamps and a special postmark.

Ile de la Réunion: Piton de la Fournaise

This is also a special card. It arrived some days ago from Réunion. It is a French island with a population of 840,974 inhabitants (as of January 2013) located in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar, about 200 kilometres (120 mi) southwest of Mauritius. The card shows Piton de la Fournaise. It's one of the most active volcanos of the world and has erupted back in may 2015.

Finland: Old Toys (Europa Stamp 2015)

These two great cards arrived from Finland. They show different Moomin Charaters. The Moomins  are the central characters in a series of books, and a comic strip by Swedish-speaking Finnish illustrator and writer Tove Jansson. These are also my first Moomin-Cards.

Germany: Postcrossing-Meetup Trier

Today I also got this nice card. It came from the Postcrossing-Meetup in Trier and shows the Imperial Baths (Kaisertherme). Over 1600 years ago, the Romans built this impressive bath. Today you can visit this gigantic bathing facility. Its also an UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Germany: Kiel University (Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, CAU)

Today I got this nice card. It commemorate the 350th anniversary of the university of Kiel. The University of Kiel was founded under the name Christiana Albertina on 5 October 1665 by Christian Albert, Duke of Holstein-Gottorp. It's a special card made for this special Jubilee. On the card there are six stickers with the university logo. On the card I got the matching stamp with special postmark.

Estonia: Tartu

Tartu is the second largest city of Estonia, following Estonia's political and financial capital Tallinn, Tartu is often considered the intellectual centre of the country, especially since it is home to the nation's oldest and most renowned university, the University of Tartu.

The card arrived with a very nice stamp.

Canada: 2015 Women's World Cup Stamp

Today I received this nice cover from Canada. On the cover there are three stamps commemorating the 2015 Women's Football World Cup. The 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup will be the seventh FIFA Women's World Cup, the quadrennial international women's football world championship tournament. In March 2011, Canada won the right to host the event. The tournament will be held from 6 June to 5 July.

On the stamps you can see in front Canada’s Christine Sinclair and Kadeisha Buchanan (red dress).

The cities of Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal and Moncton have been selected to host tournament matches.

Russia: Murmansk

This card comes from Murmansk, Russia. Murmansk is a port city and the administrative center of Murmansk Oblast, Russia, located in the extreme northwest part of Russia. Although Murmansk's population is in decline—299,148 (2014 est.); 307,257 (2010 Census); 336,137 (2002 Census); 468,039 (1989 Census)—it remains the largest city north of the Arctic Circle.

It's also a special one, because it came with the new russian postcrossing stamp.

Russia: Norilsk

This card is from the very north of Russia. Norilsk (russian: Нори́льск) is the world's northernmost city with more than 100,000 inhabitants and the second largest city (after Murmansk) inside the Arctic Circle. Nickel ore is smelted on site at Norilsk. The smelting is directly responsible for severe pollution, generally acid rain and smog. The Blacksmith Institute included Norilsk in its 2013 list of the ten most polluted places on Earth.

Cook Islands: Rarotonga

I received this nice card some years ago. It's from the Cook Islands and to be more specific from Rarotonga. Rarotonga is the most populous island of the Cook Islands, with a population of 10,572 (census 2011)  out of the country's total resident population of 14,974.

The card shows the cruise ship Tahitian Princess in front of the island of Rarotonga.

Germany: Gut Bustedt

This card shows the so called "Gut Bustedt". It's an old manor not far away from where I live. It's famous for it's large garden. Often school classes visit it to learn something about nature and biology. In January it celebrated it's 600th birthday and the Deutsche Post issued a special postmark.

Germany: Otto von Bismarck

Otto Eduard Leopold, Prince of Bismarck, Duke of Lauenburg (1 April 1815 – 30 July 1898), known as Otto von Bismarck, was a conservative Prussian statesman who dominated German and European affairs from the 1860s until 1890.

This card shows a photo of him taken in 1895 in Friedrichsruh. I bought this card from the Otto-von-Bismarck-Stiftung.




Because of his 200th birthday in 2015, the Deutsche Post issued a new stamp (0,62 EUR) (02-04-2015) and a special postmark showing his signature.

USA: Anchorage, Alaska

Anchorage is the largest city in the state of Alaska. With an estimated 300,950 residents in 2013 it contains more than 40 percent of the state's total population. Anchorage its also known as the "Air Crossroads of the world" and one of the busiest air freight hubs in the world.

USA: Fairbanks, Alaska

Fairbanks is the largest city in the Interior region of Alaska, and second largest in the state, after Anchorage. I really like this card, because it was my first one from Alaska ever. I really like to receive postcards from the arctic circle, so this a special one for me.

Canda: Montréal

Montréal is the largest city in Québec. Predominantly French-speaking, it’s set on an island in the Saint Lawrence River and named after Mt. Royal, the triple-peaked hill at its heart.

UK: University of Glasgow, Scotland

The University of Glasgow is the fourth-oldest university in the English-speaking world and one of Scotland's four ancient universities. It was established in 1451! The card shows an amazing night view of the main building of the university. A notable Alumni of this University is Adam Smith, a scottish moral philosopher and pioneer of political economy.
