France: Belfort - "Host City of the 20th Stage of the 2023 Tour de France"

Belfort is a city in northeastern France, situated approximately 25 km (16 mi) from the Swiss border. Belfort hosted the Tour de France on more than a dozen occasions, mostly as a starting venue. The stage started on July 22nd 2023 and after traversing several mountains the finish after 133,5 km was situated in Le Markstein, a ski station 8 kilometres after the Platzerwasel. I'm very happy to receive this nice Cover including a great Maxi-Card with help of my friend Eric!

France: Great Moments in French History (m/s)

On March 17, 1526, Francis I canceled the Treaty of Madrid and launched the 7th Italian War between him, King of France, and Charles V, Emperor of Austria.  On August 3, 1529, the Peace of the Ladies, also called Peace of Cambrai (in fr.: La Paid des Dames"), put an end to this war. The treaty was signed at Cambrai, in the hotel Saint-Pol, by Louise of Savoy, mother of François 1st, and Marguerite of Austria, aunt of Charles Quint.  Francis I renounced his pretensions in Italy, ceded Artois and Flanders, and recovered Burgundy.  To seal this agreement, he agrees to marry Eleanor of Habsburg, sister of the emperor. Finally the treaty allows, in exchange for a huge ransom, the release of the royal children held hostage in Madrid.  Peace was short-lived, the resentment of Francis I led to the 8th war of Italy in 1536.  The style of the block background is inspired by a woodcut of the time, colored; above, François 1st on the left, Charles Quint on the right; lower left the coat of arms of the kingdom of France, and on the right that symbolizes the alliance between the kingdom of France and the Kingdom of Spain.

France: EUROPA 2018 "Bridges"

The french stamp for the 2018 EUROPA theme "Bridges" is dedicated to the two bridges over the Rhine river, linking France to Germany.  The Europe's Bridge (on the right on the stamp), inaugurated in 1960, is the only road bridge connecting Strasbourg in France with the city of Kehl in Germany. The Deux Rives' footbridge (on the left on the stamp), or Mimram footbridge (named after its architect Marc Mimram) was inaugurated in 2004 to connect the two parts of the Deux Rives' garden. The bridge is reserved for pedestrians and cyclists, composed of two decks connected in its center by a platform which offers an original point of view on the Rhine river.

The Cover was canceled with a special postmark from the "33e Congress de la Marcophilie Naval" held from 26th to 27th May 2018 in Lyon.
